What exactly is a PLN?
A personal learning network is all about building connections and relationships with people who are interested in the same thing as you are. In my case my personal learning network would consist of elementary education things and stuff that has to do with baking. Outside of my family these are two things that are importance to me. The personal learning network is a global learning base. You can add to your personal learning network by tweeting something, blogging something or even posting something to Facebook.
How to use social media to build your personal learning network?
Like I mentioned before social media is the biggest part of your personal learning network. Someone can learn a lot about you by the things you post, tweet or even blog about. For example,
is a tweet by someone expressing what personal learning networks are! Seems easy right! Although social media may not be the easiest thing to use. Facebook was very easy for me to learn but when it came to twitter I was at a complete loss. It was so different. You could only tweet so many characters, so if you had something of importance to say that was more than the limit you would have to send multiple tweets! I will say that it does get easier. The big plus about twitter is that you can find people who are interested in things just like you easier than Facebook. You can follow everything they have to say about elementary education or even baking in my case! The other great thing about using twitter to expand your personal learning network, is that you can listen on chats that people have and get helpful information from there! If you click this link, http://teacherchallenge.edublogs.org/step-3-twitter-chats/, you will find some chats that may be helpful and interesting to you!
Make Time!
Making your personal learning network does not happen overnight, it is something you will have to work at and build continuously. You have to stay active and keep tweeting and keeping blogging to expand your personal learning network. If you were to stop doing everything today your personal learning network would stop there with you. If you miss a day or two that is okay, everyone gets busy and things come up! But do not give up completely because your personal learning network can become of interest to you in the future, just like mine will help when I start teaching!

You have provided some great information here. It’s all about understanding what PLN is, how it works, and how to use it effectively. Social media is a huge part of making a useful PLN but as this week progressed I found that there was a lot of extra info. that did not apply to what I needed then I stumbled upon this tweet that sums up my thoughts:
